LANXESS biosecurity solutions to prevent & fight disease outbreaks!

As the world’s population continues to grow rapidly, and with it the demand for safe and sustainable meat protein sources, farmers and producers of livestock and poultry are having to increase the size of crops and the frequency of their production cycles, on an annual basis. Unfortunately, these increases bring with them their own potentially catastrophic challenges from both internal and external sources, the main threat being disease-causing organisms such as Avian influenza virus and African swine fever virus.

Avian Influenza, once was considered a rare seasonal occurrence in Europe, however, in recent years this extremely contagious and devasting diseasehas moved from limited pandemic outbreaks to an all year round endemic threat for poultry farmers and producers. Recent updates from European governing bodies indicate that outbreaks of HPAI in commercial and non-commercial poultry flocks, and wild birds, continue to be reported in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland and Spain.  Globally, the outbreak has led to the death of 97 million birds in the past 12 months, 3.8 million in the UK alone1.

Biosecurity, in other words, excluding disease from an animal’s environment, is an essential and effective form of protection against devastating pathogens that affect livestock and poultry production and productivity. Focused on biosecurity today and in the future, LANXESS Biosecurity Solutions offers and invests in sustainable, innovative and cost effective cleaning, disinfection, pesticide and animal welfare technologies. Our portfolio of premium disinfectants are based on biocidal active ingredients that have been scientifically formulated to address over 600 disease-causing organisms. Extensive investment has been made to ensure our biosecurity products work effectively in ‘real on farm’ conditions, meet and exceed the requirements set out in the latest international test methodology, and are sustainable.

With over 70 years’ expertise in the research and development of science-based biosecurity products and protocols for animal health, husbandry, livestock production and emergency disease outbreak situations, LANXESS provides a complete and comprehensive solution for all your biosecurity needs.
